Molly Mahon x Heartwood Inns

British textile designer Molly Mahon has joined forces with us at Heartwood Inns to help design our playful family bunk rooms at The Potter’s Heron.

Molly Mahon Bunk Rooms at The Potter’s Heron

At The Potter’s Heron in Ampfield, Hampshire, we’ve collaborated with British textile designer Molly Mahon to create two playful new bunk rooms for our smallest guests.

It’s a project we’re really proud of, built on colour, craft and a little bit of countryside magic.

Hand Block Printing, Brought to Life

Molly is known for her joyful hand block printed fabrics and wallpapers, and her work felt like a natural fit for our family rooms at The Potter’s Heron.

Each pattern starts life as a carved wooden block, dipped in dye and pressed by hand onto paper. The result is something beautifully imperfect: no two prints are ever quite the same.

“Block printing is all about the human touch, so it felt lovely to add a few hand printed bees to the rooms myself. I hope children staying here will have fun discovering them.”

Find the Bees at The Potter’s Heron

To finish the rooms, Molly came to visit us at The Potter’s Heron in person to hand print a trail of small bees across the wallpaper.

Some are easy to spot. Others are tucked away above bunks, behind curtains and in corners you’d least expect.

We’re inviting our younger guests to go on a Bee Hunt of their own, spotting as many as they can find during their stay with us.

Design Inspired by Nature

Molly’s patterns draw on gardens, wildflowers and the countryside landscapes around her Ashdown Forest home.

Surrounded by our own woodland and fields, The Potter’s Heron shares that same connection to the outdoors, which made this collaboration feel especially fitting for us.

Our Collaboration

“We love working with designers whose work reflects the warmth and personality we aim to create in our pubs.

Molly’s designs felt like a natural fit for the bunk rooms at The Potter’s Heron.”

A Shared Philosophy

We believe, just as Molly does, that rooms should feel lived in, welcoming and full of personality rather than chasing fleeting trends.

Our bunk rooms at The Potter’s Heron bring that thinking to life, pairing traditional craft with a touch of playful storytelling.

Molly Mahon’s designs “Odisha Stripe Loom Cotton/Jute Olive” and “Trailing Acorn Wallpaper Olive” are used throughout our bunk rooms at The Potter’s Heron. She can be found on Instagram at @mollymahonblockprinting.
