Autumn is almost here…

Like Autumn, our delicious new menu is almost here, bringing you a bounty of seasonal delights to tempt your taste buds. With heart-warming classics such as our French Onion Soup with luxurious Gruyėre for that perfect cheese pull and a foraging feast of artichoke and chestnut mushroom pithivier with red wine and port sauce you can take your pick from the very best the season has to offer.

As we usher in a season of cosy evenings playing card games by the fire, we also celebrate game season, with sustainably sourced dishes from our long-term partner and award-winning butcher to the Royal Household Aubrey Allen. Tempted by our new pheasant and venison sausages with truffle mash? Or maybe the succulent flavours of our new 8-hour slow-cooked shoulder of Highland venison? Enjoyed with Grand Veneur, our “Grand Huntsman” rich sauce, made from scratch with a delicious mix of dark chocolate and juniper – a classic pairing with Highland venison.

Game sausage 

A bespoke Heartwood Inns recipe developed in partnership with Royal Warrant holders Aubrey Allen. This rich and hearty dish, accompanied by chestnut mushrooms, baby apple, braised chestnuts and topped with tangy red currants, is the epitome of comfort and will melt in your mouth. leaving you dreaming of cosy Autumn evenings… 

Celeriac 

Earthy celeriac served with a tender fondant and a crisp, tangy remoulade, topped with walnuts for depth. The creamy, rustic flavours of this particular dish echo the comfort of the season, making it a perfect autumnal treat.

Mushrooms

Autumn is the perfect time for wild mushroom foraging, and we’re particularly excited to welcome back our herb gnocchi, a vegan favourite bringing you all the wonderfully earthy flavours of the forest with a fricassée of wild mushrooms alongside truffled artichoke velouté and topped with artichoke crisps.

We love to shout about all our dishes, however our Autumn Still Life speaks for itself – a true masterpiece, evoking the magic of a woodland stroll through the forest. Picture yourself foraging for mushrooms, turning over leaves and stones – this journey is brought to life through a harmonious blend of flavours in this show stopping dessert. Indulge in a chestnut and rum parfait, velvety dark chocolate mousse, frosted pecan nuts, and a delicate vanilla-cacao leaf tuile.
